Vampire: The Masquerade
Contest of Will
This entire website is being completely re-crafted and refurbished, which is a huge project. So if things seem incomplete in places or buttons don't link to anything yet, don't worry. It will all be reconstructed so the layout is easy to use and everything will be easier to locate.
Terminology
As you go through the OOC section as well as the IC section, there is a lot of terminology that I am using that may confuse you. This page is meant to give you one place to look for clarification. If there are other terms you find that are not present here, and you think they should be, send me an email at alzatkow@gmail.com and I will add it.
Chapter - A chapter deals specifically with the fictional story that is being co-woven by me, the storyteller, as well as yourselves as you affect the game environment. The NPC's are acting behind the scenes to further their own agendas. In each chapter of the story, big things are happening. When you unveil and therefore unlock the big events, the chapter of the story will end, and a new one will begin. Major characters may rise to power or die in any given chapter.
Round - This deals specifically with the Required Task list in the Contest of Will. Each specific player and NPC competitor may be in a completely different round from each other. It is all about completing all of the required tasks of the current round in order to successfully advance to the next one.
Turn - This deals specifically with the e-mail strategy aspect of the game. During a turn, every player and NPC competitor gets up to 3 moves, which are email-based and defined in the OOC section on strategy. Once you use all three of your moves during a turn, you are done with play for that turn. The turn is over when the entire storyline for that given turn is posted on the website. At the full completion of the turn, the game advances to the next turn, and each player once again gets three moves to create via email.
Turns and Rounds when used in live roleplay combat: These are obviously different from the definitions listed above. During live roleplay, the terms turns and rounds are very different. A round in combat means every player and NPC takes an action. When it is your turn, you may declare your action for the current turn in the combat scenario.
